By: Washington Irving
“a mother is the truest friend we have, when trials heavy and sudden fall upon us; when adversity takes the peace of prosperity; when friends desert us; when trouble thickens around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavor by her kind precepts and counsels of dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts.”
It’s amazing how Washington Irving presents a mother. She sounds a lot like Jesus. “I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.” John 15:15 Jesus is a friend to us. When trials come our way, when there is no peace, when friends turn their backs on us, when your children are struggling, cast all your cares upon the Lord because He cares for you. He is able to give you peace that surpasses all understanding. In His presence is the fullness of joy.
What a friend we have in Jesus…
