Rest

From me to you…

To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven. (Ecclesiastes 3:1) It is your time for a rest!

We take care of our children. We work. We volunteer. We run businesses. We participate in church events.  You name it, we do it.  When was the last time you did nothing, but rest?  I like to rest, but I use to feel guilty if I wasn’t doing something. We must have a rest day. The Word of God encourages us to enter rest. God ordained a Sabbath rest. Work six days, but rest on the seventh. Not only are we to rest our body, but our mind as well.  Now, this is my challenge…resting the mind.

I’m on vacation writing this blog. Since I arrived here in North Carolina, my mind has been on things back at home.  Because of this I wasn’t truly enjoying my vacation.  I thought to myself; when I was home I couldn’t wait to get away. Now I’m away and all I’m thinking about is home. Something is wrong with this picture.  I woke up the next day determined to focus on enjoying my rest.  I had a nice enjoyable day. Spent a couple of hours with my Grandma and had a nice dinner with my cousins and aunt. Ended my day with an evening chat and CNN with my parents.

God created the Sabbath day rest for a reason. I encourage you to take a rest day. It doesn’t matter what day it is, just do it.  It is good for your mind and your body.  Spend your day thinking on good things. Don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. (Mat 6:34)

What time is it?  It’s your time of rest!!!

Humbly submitted…

Thank you for this. I experienced the need for “time of rest” and acted upon that need. For the first time in my life, I booked a flight, booked a beautiful, beachfront room in a resort and Exhaled and listened to the voice of GOD with no distractions or disruptions and to turn my mind off. The best vacation I’ve ever had. TO GOD BE THE GLORY.
